The Little Cake Parlour first started in 2006 as a business from home, baking up all kind of cakes, cupcakes, cookies and pies for local cafes and delicatessens as well as weekly farmer’s markets. One of our early big breaks was when we made it on to TV thanks to the MOBO Awards in 2009! We were delighted to be the Official Supplier both times the event has been held in Glasgow. In 2010 as the business grew the home kitchen just wasn’t going to cut it anymore, so we opened a shop with an on-site bakery in Shawlands.
As well as catering to the local community with freshly baked cupcakes made on site every day, we even started to get some celebrity customers including My Chemical Romance, Chvrches and Ed Sheeran. As the business grew, so did our cakes! With an increasing focus on wedding cakes and large celebration cakes, we really got to stretch our creative muscle. Our reputation grew, with features and articles in a variety of newspapers, wedding magazines and style blogs. We were also thrilled to become recommended suppliers to some of the best wedding venues in Glasgow, including Oran Mor, House for an Art Lover and Pollok House.
In 2015 as the focus had shifted so much onto weddings and event cakes it made sense to relocate to somewhere more intimate so we could spend more time focussing on individual cakes. We closed the shop front and moved into a studio in the beautiful Templeton building just off Glasgow green. Not only did this give us more space and time to focus on making the best cakes we possibly can, it also introduced us to other entrepreneurs, allowing us to share our experience. Little Cake Parlour shares the studio with Cat Robertson Make Up, Pin Up Hair and Bygone Booth. Collectively, they’re known as Studio 408.
